Job Description

SNOWLINE JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CERTIFICATED MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT PRINC I PAL, NON-TRADITIONAL SCHOOLS POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Director of Non-Traditional Schools, in conjunction with the
Non-Traditional Schools Administration Team:
Assist in the leadership and administration of multiple Non-Traditional school sites; Respond to and initiate parent and community two-way communication; Plan, develop, organize, coordinate and supervise student attendance, behavior management and extra-curricular programs with positive interventions and supports; Assist in the planning, development and implementation of non-traditional sites' instructional and operational goals and objectives, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of educational programs and personnel performance; Assist with student and staff supervision, coaching and evaluation; serve as administrator in charge during the Director's absence; and perform other related functions as directed.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a leader and member of a professional learning community: Assist in the planning, development, organization, coordination, implementation and supervision of instructional programs and activities at all non-traditional schools, which include curriculum development, program and activity development, and design and delivery processes; Review, analyze and assess achievement and survey data; Advise, counsel, and assist instructional, support and ancillary personnel in problem-solving activities pertaining to student behavior management and learning; Assist in the planning, organization, and development of a master program schedule and calendar; May register, design a program, and develop individual student instructional schedules; May perform a variety of guidance-related activities, including educational and social counseling and the conduct of standard and criterion-referenced placement aptitude tests; Plan, organize, and coordinate campus safety and supervision; May assist in the planning, organization, and coordination of an instructional support program, including pupil services, instructional materials development, storage, and retrieval systems, and a variety of other related activities; Assist in the planning, organization, and conduct of a comprehensive student body activity program, including co-curricular activities, budget planning and expenditure control, and student government functions and activities; Actively participate and coordinate the school plan, WASC and LCAP work at the non-traditional school sites; Serve as a liaison to safety and youth service agencies in resolving student management and control problems and student attendance and welfare problems; Assist in the site budget planning and expenditure control process; Review, audit, and evaluate instructional and non-instructional personnel performance and provide technical performance evaluation input; May assist in the planning, development and organization of district and site advisory committees and groups; Facilitate weekly leadership and staff meetings; Assist in development and implementation of staff morale and motivational strategies; Increase college and career readiness by ensuring all students have equity and access to A-G courses and/or CTE/ROP Pathways and/or Online Classes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Principles, methods, strategies, goals and objectives of public education Philosophical, educational, fiscal, and legal aspects of public education Procedures, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to the administration of a TK-12 th grade school operation Professional Learning Communities, Common Core State Standards, Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports, Response to Instruction and Intervention Curriculum, instruction, and pupil service trends, strategies, and techniques Effective classroom management and student engagement Student activity, behavior management, and campus supervision and control methods, procedures and techniques Program and activity audit and evaluation strategies and procedures Methods, procedures, and strategies of the supervision of instructional- and a variety of student body-related activities and programs Evaluation procedures and processes WASC process Ability to: Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, parents, administration and community Be visible on campus before, during and after school Effectively plan, organize and coordinate the management and leadership functions and activities of non-traditional schools Demonstrate a positive instructional leadership model Effectively analyze problems, issues, and concerns and formulate appropriate alternative solutions Take initiative in identifying and systematically solving challenges/issues Maintain confidentiality Communicate effectively in oral and written form with students, staff, parents and community Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls Coordinate and facilitate WASC committee, reporting and visitations Coach and evaluate classified and certificated personnel
EDUCATION
: Equivalent to the completion of a master-of-arts or higher degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, instructional technology, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE
Four years of successful teaching experience.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT
: Possession of a valid California credential authorizing service as an assistant principal
LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
Insurability by the District's liability insurance carrier.
