Primary or Additional Position:
Primary Job Summary The Interdisciplinary Advisor works within a team-based environment working closely with other online advisors within Graduate and Professional Studies and is responsible for evaluating online applicants and advising undergraduate and graduate students from multiple disciplines. This position will ensure that all current students are provided with enrollment services. Supervisory Responsibilities None.
Duties/Responsibilities Overview:
Evaluates prospective applications for admission into online programs Completes admission process for accepted online applicants Advises online students throughout their coursework regarding courses and requirements Tracks online students to ensure successful completion of courses and requirements Participates on committees as necessary Works closely with Graduate and Professional Studies regarding student needs and scheduling Will use a variety of modalities to meet with students to include Video Conference, Phone Calls or In Person. Serves as role model for faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, attendance, and general professionalism. Directors Registration:
Check prerequisites when students register for courses Send student letters for dismissals, course failures, probation; communicate information to JU Registrar Advise students on course selection/load/decisions Check the rosters, research holds and grant approval for registrations Responsible for evaluating grade reports for failures Keep students aware of drop and withdrawal deadlines
Admissions:
Evaluate all transcripts and calculate cumulative GPA's to determine admission decision Post all transfer courses from other schools' transcripts/international evaluations in datel Send course descriptions to Dean, Director for approval as needed for transfer courses Perform all data entry in datel Evaluate supplemental transcripts Verify school/program accreditation and ETS codes Review alternative credits for transfer Advise students asking to take classes at other institutions Assist students with petition process if they wish to have admission decision reevaluated Prepare progression plans, admit letters, etc. to email to applicant- post to SLATE Prepare denial letters and email applicant- post to SLATE For internationals students, check TOEFL exam score or that student has taken 24 or more credits with a minimum of 2.0 GPA at a regionally accredited US institution. Evaluate official credential evaluation from an agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service.
Readmits:
Process petition for readmission if applicable Evaluate transcripts from newly attended schools Provide updated progression plan, degree audit and important information regarding portfolio in capstone course to student
Student Progression:
Review course descriptions from other schools to determine award of credit Review screens in datatel to track progress of students, receipt of transcripts,(IASU), courses posted (STAC), name changes (NAE), graduation status (SGRD), catalog year(SACP), readmission (STAL), grade forgiveness

Graduation:
Attend graduation ceremony and reception afterwards for online students Follow students from admission to graduation Maintain database for graduation Collect graduation applications from students that haven't submitted form Evaluate students' files to make sure all requirements are met
Affiliation Agreements:
Tracking progress of affiliation agreements Maintain database for affiliation agreements Liaison between student and Clinical Coordinator Obtains necessary paperwork/forms from the student for
Clinical Coordinator Miscellaneous:
Participates in committees, vendor events, and other groups as deemed necessary by the Program Directors Responsible for maintaining current documentation of online policies and procedures • Tracking data as needed for program (effects of gen ed policy changes, AGE degrees, etc.) Train new advisors Special projects as needed by Directors Fluency in computer skills: Datatel, Excel, Word, Outlook Maintain confidentiality of student records Update shared drive Required Skills/Abilities 1. Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who can be a team player and desires to share creative solutions and best practices. 2. Requirements include problem-solving, critical thinking skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. 3. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are required. 4. Solid knowledge or experience working in academia. 5. Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks; ability to tolerating frequent interruptions.
Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of successful work in a University and/or advising role.
