ASSISTANT HEAD OF SCHOOL
Progressive Preschool & Elementary Program Miami Area (South Miami Coral Gables Coconut Grove Brickell) A well-established, progressive preschool and elementary program in Miami is seeking an experienced, warm, and highly organized Assistant Head of School to support the daily leadership and growth of our school community. This leadership role is ideal for someone who is passionate about child-centered education, values strong relationships with families and educators, and can confidently oversee both preschool and elementary programs while helping maintain a nurturing, high-level academic environment. The ideal candidate is charismatic, emotionally intelligent, collaborative, organized, and capable of balancing operations, curriculum oversight, and community connection.ABOUT THE SCHOOL

The Assistant Head of School will work closely with school leadership to oversee the daily functioning of the preschool and elementary divisions. This person will help support teachers, maintain educational quality, strengthen family relationships, and ensure a positive and professional school culture.This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being actively involved in classrooms, mentoring educators, guiding curriculum implementation, and building trust within a school community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & School Culture Support the overall leadership and daily operations of the school Help cultivate a warm, collaborative, and professional school culture Serve as a visible and approachable presence for families, children, and staff Model strong communication, professionalism, and emotional intelligence Assist with conflict resolution and problem-solving when needed Teacher Support & Supervision Mentor and support preschool and elementary educators Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback Help ensure classrooms reflect the school's progressive educational philosophy Support lesson planning, organization, and curriculum implementation Encourage excellence, creativity, and accountability among teaching staff Curriculum & Program Oversight Support the implementation of a strong and engaging academic program Ensure curriculum alignment and educational consistency across grade levels Collaborate with teachers on project-based learning and child-centered instruction Help maintain high academic standards while honoring the developmental needs of children Experience with progressive education, Reggio Emilia-inspired environments, inquiry-based learning, or project-based learning is highly valued Family Relations Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and families Communicate professionally and compassionately with families Support tours, admissions conversations, and community events Help families feel welcomed, informed, and connected to the school culture Operations & Organization Assist with scheduling, staff coordination, and day-to-day school logistics Help maintain organization, consistency, and follow-through across programs Collaborate with administrative leadership to support school-wide initiatives and eventsQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a preschool and/or elementary school setting Strong understanding of child development and progressive education Experience supporting teachers and overseeing curriculum Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Charismatic, confident, and relationship-oriented Highly organized with strong follow-through Ability to lead with both warmth and professionalism Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education or Educational Leadership preferred Fluent English required; Spanish is a plusIDEAL CANDIDATE
