Vary according to experience, Matching 401k, Health Benefits Start date: July 1, 2026 SUMMARYOF POSITION
The High School Principal must be a successful manager and leader in a 9-12 school setting. The High School Principal views school leadership as a ministry and exemplifies collaborative decision-making, diligent communication, and must be able to balance grace and accountability for students and staff. The High School Principal reports to the Head of School and serves on the Administrative Team. He/she supervises college/career services, academic advising and the supervision and evaluation of the high school faculty. The successful candidate should possess a solid understanding of the importance of communication in building relationships between students, parents and faculty. The High School Principal must be organized, able to work independently, demonstrate flexibility when necessary, and be collaborative and creative. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as well as experience with educational technology, data, charts, graphs and reports concerning student progress. Experience and knowledge with Advanced Placement (AP) classes, dual enrollment, and vocational education would be preferred. Under the Head of School's direction, the High School Principal must fulfill the Sarasota Christian School mission of honoring the Lord Jesus Christ, which is to equip students with a love for Christ, a passion to learn, the courage to lead, and a commitment to serve. The school administration may assign additional duties or specify other functions as needed.ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and support safety of the high school facility including high school parking
- Educate students about school rules and procedures
- Prepare appropriate sections of the annual budget and oversee expenditures throughout the year in conjunction with the CFO and Head of School
- Assist with fundraising and promoting the school in the community
- Assist in the admission process for the testing, interviewing, evaluating student applicants and assisting with campus tours
- Monitor high school faculty and staff employability skills and monitor expectations from contracts
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Support faculty in communicating student progress to parents/guardians In coordination with faculty, provide oversight to follow school procedures from the Parent/Student Handbook, Athletic Handbook, Crisis Plan and the master schedule Must be able to use conflict resolution to solve problems Must be able to hold people accountable and raise performance expectationsESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Create mentoring opportunities for new teachers
- Observe classroom instruction and evaluate the faculty
- Provide feedback to high school faculty and staff
- Establish a positive school climate to help students develop independence and maturity in decision-making
- Coordinate spiritual emphasis from chapel, Bible studies, and devotions with faculty and staff Must be a born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Bible and express agreement with the school's doctrinal viewpoints, statement of faith, and Christian lifestyle requirements Must be able to serve as a positive Christian role model to others in the school context Must be able to accept and support the school's core beliefs, statement of faith, and doctrine Must have an understanding of and a commitment to SCS's educational objectives and philosophy of education Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the individual to integrate Scripture into subjects taught, sports coached, or other job duties assigned, thus imparting a biblical worldview position to students Must faithfully attend a Bible-believing church whose fundamental beliefs align with the SCS Statement of Faith and school doctrine Must affirm that working and ministering in this Christian school would be pleasing to God, consistent with their purpose in life, and good stewardship of the employee's time, talent, and professional abilities Must enjoy working with young people, knowing the students, dealing with adolescent conflicts and raise expectations for academic, behavior and spiritual awareness Possess physical stamina required to fulfill the professional obligations of this position and specific assignments Strong work ethic and the ability to demonstrate initiative Effective time management skills Excellent judgment, discretion and confidentiality Lead the high school staff and faculty into a new facility opening this August (2026) Undergraduate degree in education and a graduate degree in education-related field with preference given to educational administration Ten or more years of teaching Preference is given for eight or more years in a school-based administrative or leadership role
