Description Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Services, the Senior Student Success Advisor is responsible for executing the day-to-day deliverables of the College's case management advising model. This position serves as the primary point of contact for students, assisting with various tasks during the five identified eras of the student lifecycle: onboarding, pre-advising, pathway selection, transition to career or transfer institution, and degree completion. The position requires a broad knowledge of various aspects of student services and necessitates the use of intentional advising strategies to develop relationships with advisees and foster a climate of student access and success. Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent must possess superior customer service skills and work in a complex, ever-changing environment to assist students with a multitude of different issues. Essential Functions/Duties Consults and advises new program applicants in the process and steps for program admission and completion. Serves as the primary academic advisor for students enrolled in the College's degree programs by utilizing intentional, developmental advising methods focused on student success, skill development, and life-long learning. Assists students with curriculum planning, course selection, information related to bachelor's and graduate programs, initial transfer credit review, academic program requirements, and degree audits. Oversees the identification of prospective program applicants and the prospective graduates currently enrolled. Analyzes course enrollment and provides feedback on the course schedule to program directors, department chairs, and deans, as appropriate. Participates in community outreach activities and collaborates to coordinate recruiting and informational meetings, and other events on and off campus during days, nights, and the occasional weekend. Analyses data and prepares various reports as requested by program directors and/or college administrators. Collaborate with Academic Advising, SALO, the
TLCC, STEM
faculty, and Career Development Services to provide and encourage academic support resources for identified students. Assists with all other advising functions during peak registration times. Communicate effectively with current and prospective students, community members, and College staff, adhering to the privacy of student records requirements (FERPA). Serve on college-wide committees and task groups as assigned or appointed. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Student Services.Typical Qualifications Required Skills:
Demonstrated multicultural competence and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, and ethnic factors that contribute to student achievement. The ability to establish an effective, professional rapport with students, faculty, and staff. Good organizational skills, with special attention to detail. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others. General office skills. Experience with computers and all Microsoft Office programs. A positive attitude and customer service-oriented work ethic. Ability to maintain confidential information. The ability to work independently on broader assignments with the responsibility of planning work. Makes decisions within accepted standards. Ability to make decisions within accepted standards. Consultation on problems requires judgment and tact to obtain cooperation or approval of action to be taken. Bilingual skills are a preference. Working Conditions/Additional Information During the first of each semester must be available to work evening hours to start the semester. Sometimes requires coming in in the evenings, early in the mornings, and on Saturdays to work various duties as assigned. Must be able to work proficiently in a busy, multi-office work area. Must be flexible and able to adapt well to changes. Salary and Benefits Information This position is level P14 . Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree is required.Required Experience:
Three (3) years of professional, exempt student or academic services work experience, including admissions, advising, educational or career services, financial aid, or registration.Preferred Experience:
Professional, exempt-level job experience is preferred. Spanish/English Bilingual Preferred.
