Job Details:
Mercer University is searching for an Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Student Services for the School of Business on the Macon or Atlanta, GA campus.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Student Services provides leadership for day-to-day academic advising, student success, onboarding, retention, and student engagement initiatives within the School of Business. Reporting to the Director of Academic Advising and Student Services, the Assistant Director oversees operational implementation of student support services, coordinates advising initiatives, manages student intervention efforts, and collaborates with academic and administrative partners to promote student persistence, progression, and degree completion. The Assistant Director serves as a senior student success professional who supports enrollment growth, transfer student recruitment, onboarding, retention programming, and student engagement efforts. This position works closely with faculty, admissions, enrollment management, career services, corporate partnerships, and student affairs to ensure a seamless student experience from enrollment through graduation.
Duties include:
Academic Advising Support and Student Success Services Student Outreach, Communication, and Retention Initiatives Orientation, Onboarding, and Transition Support Student Records Management and Reporting Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and one year of experience working with university advising, university admissions and/or recruiting, or relevant corporate experience are required. Candidates must have a valid current driver's license as this position requires some travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Business related specialty Campus Nexus Experience Demonstrated ability to remain composed in high-pressure or challenging situations, communicate assertively in the face of resistance or indifference, and establish trust-based relationships with individuals in need of guidance or support. Must be a team player and committed to the success of students. Ability to foster effective advising by demonstrating a welcoming and supportive demeanor, while conveying confident expertise in interpreting and applying the School's academic policies and regulations. 3 plus years of academic administration at the college level. Experience with adult learners
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Microsoft Office Suite Ability to use the University's student information system, referred to as CampusNexus, to access, update, and manage student records. Proficient with MS-Excel, MS-Word, and MS-PowerPoint to prepare reports, and presentations, analyze data, and facilitate written communication. Ability to quickly assimilate knowledge of University and School academic regulations, which is fundamental to sound academic advising. Ability to independently travel to the Henry and Douglas Regional Academic Centers as an essential function of the position.
