SPECIFICATIONS
Required:
1. Ability to guide and develop student growth. 2. Experience with student government as an instructor/participant. 3. Valid driver's license.
Desired:
1. Experience/background in student government at the high school or collegiate level.
BASIC FUNCTION
Student Government sponsor organizes student representatives to provide feedback to administration on various issues. Student Government meets regularly throughout the year. The council represents the student body at school functions. The sponsor organizes students to hold fundraising activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide guidance and supervision on the selection of students to student government positions. 2. Submit annual activity plan to activities office by October 1st. Submission of plan will be required before the initial stipend payment is paid. (Activity plan templates will be available) 3. Meet with students regularly to discuss needs and work on projects. 4. Stay connected with student leaders to ensure follow through and build relationships. 5. Coordinate the work of student volunteers to ensure tasks are completed. 6. Work with building administration and staff to help organize student government sponsored events. 7. Communicate with outside agencies as needed to purchase materials or rent facilities to support activities. 8. Coordinate purchases and other expenditures with building administration to ensure the student government operates within its budget. 9. Provide information to students, parents, and staff about upcoming events. 10. Attend Booster Meetings as requested by administration. 11. Submit reports (with student evidence) and activity checklists to building and district administration as requested.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(for every DMPS position): 1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. 2. Maintain confidentiality. 3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. 4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned. 5. Attend district-wide meetings as requested.
