Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of School Success. In this vital role, you will help to launch new public charter schools, creating innovative educational offerings for students across Iowa. You will also offer technical assistance to existing schools and provide professional development to improve their performance. Responsibilities- School Development
- Work with local educators and community members interested in developing new public charter schools to provide unique and innovative educational opportunities
- Strategically recruit high-quality public charter schools from other states to expand to Iowa with school models that serve the needs of our students
- Assist all applicants with the state charter school authorization application
- Assist all applicants to prepare for and execute the required events for charter authorization by the state Board, including capacity interviews and public forums
- Collaborate with applicants on community engagement and recruitment efforts as needed
- Assist authorized schools with tasks on the opening checklists issued by the Iowa Department of Education
- Provide Technical Assistance and trainings for CSP Subgrant awardees and prospective charter school applicants Responsibilities- School Support
- Assist member schools as they complete the state charter renewal process
- Develop and administer the ICPCS annual needs assessment to determine critical areas for professional development in schools
- Plan and implement all professional development offerings as required by the federal CSP grant, and informed by quarterly and annual needs assessments, including an annual Iowa Charter School Network conference
- Visit subgrantee schools as needed to support the federal CSP grant and provide ongoing operational support to ensure high-quality instruction and operations
- Serve as manager of the Iowa Charter School Network, in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Education to connect all charter school leaders for collaborative problem solving; coordinate regular meetings and communications
- Develop and maintain community partnerships to enhance supplemental curricular and student support services for schools, including AEAs, iJAG, Habitat for Humanity, etc.
- Collaborate with the Iowa Department of Education Grants Administrator on all documentation and implementation of the federal CSP grant Travel Requirements (multiple days per month)
- Travel statewide to schools to assist the Iowa DE with CSP Monitoring process
- Travel to conferences sponsored by national educational partners to bring best practices to Iowa, including but not limited to: National Alliance for Public Charter Schools & ExcelinEd
- Travel to recruit out-of-state CMOs to expand to Iowa
- Travel to observe high-quality public charter networks nationwide to bring best practices to Iowa; lead trips with other charter school leaders Desired Qualifications Proven experience in K-12 school leadership, preferably in the state of Iowa Strong background in multiple elements of school operations: teaching, student supports, extracurriculars, etc.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain community partnerships Excellent writing skills for preparing reports, presentations, and charter applications Project management skills Experience in the charter school movement
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
