Job Description

Front Desk Assistant, Addison (PT), CP1N20943CNTRS Front Desk Assistant, Addison (PT), CP1N20943CNTRS The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, vitally connected to our local area for over 50 years. We prepare students for a lifelong passion for learning on our 273-acre campus which is home to nine associate degrees and a wide variety of professional and technical certificates. Many of these credentials prepare students to seamlessly articulate into the baccalaureate programs of our higher education partner institutions. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Requires comprehensive knowledge of college services, programs, and resources to deliver exceptional customer service to a diverse population. Assists with day-to-day center operations in the absence of the Department Administrative Assistant and Supervisor. Establish a welcoming atmosphere by greeting people in a friendly, caring manner. Assist students, community members, faculty and staff with their questions and concerns, both in-person and over the telephone. Provide registration assistance in person, telephone, and the internet. Schedule advising appointments using college software program and make reminder calls to students. Provide emergency assistance and become familiar with safety procedures according to policies. Open and close center and learn Secure building before closing which includes closing all windows, opening blinds and locking all internal and external doors, including activating security alarms. Maintain effective communication with students, instructors and community patrons regarding pertinent center information. Provide referrals to other College of DuPage services and individuals. Access course information and student enrollment Maintain appearance of the center, including updating information on flyers, and college catalogs. supplying. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education High School diploma required. College coursework and customer service training preferred. Experience One (1) year of customer service experience required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Preferred knowledge Windows, MSOffice and keyboard skills required. One (1) year of customer service experience in a higher education environment preferred.
Working Conditions:
Computer, printer, multi-line telephone, copier, audio visual equipment, fax machine and scanner. Busy office setting with customer contact in person and on the telephone. Counter work which requires extensive knowledge of the College resources and multiple service functions in order to provide one stop service. Must have good listening skills and good command of English, both verbal and written. This position requires a background check at the expense of the college.
Part-Time Work Schedule:
Daytime position Monday to Friday must start at 8:30 am
Hiring Range:
Starting pay begins at $17.59/hr. based on experience. Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
