Who We Are:
Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 – 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Athletic Director this person will be responsible for inter-scholastic and intramural athletic programs, coaches, support staff, and planning. This person will report directly to the Athletic Director.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the coordination of athletic events under direction the Athletic Director and manage athletic department budget(s); for both High School and Middle Schools Coordinate, with the district office under the direction of the Athletic Director, security support to ensure sufficient security staff at all sporting events. Create a plan to expand the middle school athletic program to include inner and outer district competitions; Provide athlete and coach orientation, conditioning, and athletics training programs; Supervise utilization of the athletic facilities; coordinate athletic uses of training and weight room facilities; recommend and review policies for student and community use of facilities at the college; review and recommend changes, repairs and improvement of athletic equipment and facilities; Provide athlete and coach orientation, conditioning, and athletics training programs. Oversee the production of the athletic handbook, bulletins, and other publications; Coordinate master athletic calendars; Responsible for reviewing and verifying grades to determine student eligibility. Develop and provide a variety of student services and programs such as student athletic recruitment and retention, academic tracking and athletic eligibility, health and safety; Serve as the liaison between the coaching staff and school and district leadership Attend all athletic events, conference activities, Illinois High School Athletics (IHSA) meetings and maintain compliance of rules and regulations; Arrange for all officials, faculty assistants, and transportation to adequately supervise the athletic activities for contests and assure athlete participation; Arrange for all coaches to have the IHSA concussion training with a certificate of completion; Recruit, recommend hire, retention and dismissal of personnel; Meet quarterly with all members of the coaching staff to establish effective program goals and ongoing program review; Review and evaluate coaching staff and provide a recommendation for renewal or non-renewal of coaching contract; Maintain the necessary records for all participants in the athletic program as they relate to physical examinations, eligibility, parental permission for participation, insurance, awards, etc.; Issue periodic bulletins and reports on regulations and provisions concerning the athletic program and to assist in maintaining sound public relations within the school; Arrange all athletics schedules in cooperation with the other athletic directors and secure approval of the co/principals; Responsible for safe and secure locker room facilities by establishing procedures, expectations, and supervision; Arrange with the Lead Co-principal an early excusable schedule when necessary for out-of-town athletic contests; Approve the participants for athletic awards and to arrange an appropriate awards night at the conclusion of each fall, winter and spring season; Assume any other responsibility necessary to carry on a successful athletic program.
Qualifications :
Must have a Masters in Sports Administration or an administrative certificate.. Physical Education certificate preferred. Experience in coaching and organizing athletic functions is preferred. Demonstrate competency and maintain compliance with the rules and practices of Illinois High School Athletics (IHSA).
