TITLE:
PRINCIPAL ASSISTANT/ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
(Liberty Memorial Central Middle School) Liberty Memorial Central Middle School (LMCMS), home of the Mustangs, is a historic Lawrence school community that continues to grow through innovation and student-centered learning. Job Goal:
To assist principal in providing school-wide leadership, to administer the student management system and activities program.
Supervises:
Staff members at the building level
Qualifications:
Kansas Licensure in School Leadership Prefer have prior experience with extracurricular athletic programs.
Performance and Responsibilities:
Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. Assists with the day to day operations of Student Attendance Services. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary. Assists with all safety and security procedures including the crises plan, fire drills, tornado drills. Assists in the recruitment, selection and placement of certified and classified personnel. Assists in the evaluation of certified and classified personnel. Assists with staff development for certified and classified personnel. Assists in providing information for parents and students regarding school policies. Assists with beginning of school year enrollment process and student orientation. Coordinates supervision of students within the building and on school grounds. Coordinates with building maintenance personnel for custodial and maintenance needs. Coordinates and oversees school athletic program. Performs other duties as requested by the principal.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
Ability to possess and maintain licensure (certification) as an administrator in the state of Kansas. Ability to speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner. Possess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readers. Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice or response. Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner. Ability to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communication equipment. Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines. Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others. Knowledge of Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) procedures and regulations. The tasks listed in this position description are subject to change at the discretion of the superintendent. The incumbent is expected to take on other duties as requested or assigned by his/her supervisor.
