This educational leader will be committed to promoting equity, a sense of belonging, and fostering academic and personal success for all students. We are a school of over 500 students in grades K-5. The Team Chair is an integral member of our leadership team and will contribute greatly to our student experiences, staff development, and the advancement of our special education programming. The Team Chair reports directly to the Director of Student Services and building Principal, and is a member of the Luce leadership team as well as the Student Services district team.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Lead the special education referral process to include Child Find requirements and the utilization/implementation of MTSS interventions. 2. Initiate and coordinate the team evaluation process according to special education regulations. Ensure a thorough evaluation in all areas of suspected disability and adhere to required timelines. 3. Schedule and chair special education team meetings. Ensure the determination of eligibility and development of individualized educational plans in accordance with mandated requirements. Act as a liaison between parents, school team members, and other agencies regarding special education services including utilization of problem-solving strategies to resolve differences of opinions. 4. Supervise the implementation of Individualized IEPs including service delivery and access to school-based resources, accommodations, and student services. Monitor student progress, conduct annual reviews, three-year reevaluations, transition planning, and the 688 referral process. Document rejected IEPs and notification to BSEA. 5. Assist in the supervision and evaluation of Educational Assistants and facilitate professional development sessions for these staff members. 6. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and building Principal to ensure best practices for our students, and advance our special education services. All practices must be aligned with the core values and strategic frameworks maintained by Canton Public Schools. Must hold valid and current MA certification in special education, school psychology, or administration At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred Master degree preferred Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
Compensation:
$80,000- $90,000 (0.8 FTE) plus generous benefit package
