Part-time Advisors for theTRIO/SSS
program are responsible for supporting actively enrolledNSCC TRIO
students, ensuring the program meets grant-mandated participation levels of no fewer than 350 active participants. Duties include identifying and recruiting eligible students, providing one-on-one academic advising, monitoring academic progress, assisting with financial aid and transfer processes, and helping students develop and achieve educational and career goals. Advisors also collaborate with TRIO staff on workshops, orientations, and program planning, represent TRIO at college events, liaise with campus services, and contribute to the preparation of performance reports and institutional planning initiatives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Pursuant of the TRIO Grant, the department must maintain no less than 350 active participants. Part-time Advisors are expected to provide service to 60 actively enrolledNSCC TRIO
students. Conduct outreach, recruit, and identify eligible student participants in need of support available through theTRIO/SSS
program. Represent TRIO at college events, including but not limited to, open house, registration events, and high school completion events. Provide one-on-one advising sessions to help students plan their education, and create action plans for success. Assist students with selecting Guided Pathway(s) that will help them achieve their educational goal; periodically review Pathway(s) with students to make necessary adjustments; work to motivate students to achieve identified goals. Monitor students' academic progress, and follow up with them using grades, conferences, and other information AssistTRIO/SSS
participants with the financial aid process, scholarship applications and the transfer process. Assist with developing and implementing workshops Collaborate with TRIO staff on annual new student orientation programming Liaise between students and staff providing services on campus Participate in college and community committees to advocate and support TRIO student issues, as assigned Participate in the development of goals and objectives for theTRIO/SSS
program as well as the institutional planning process Assist the Director with compiling information for TRIO Annual Performance Report and other performance statistics Other duties as assigned.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with three (3) years' experience and/or training involving college enrollment, student support services, financial aid, or customer service; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Familiarity with college student support resources, preferably in a community college setting Familiarity with college and external career resources and regional labor market Experience or familiarity with student systems preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and excellent interpersonal skills Demonstrated sensitivity towards and passion and commitment to working with students and staff of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, different levels of academic preparation, or/and varying physical and learning abilities-prior experience preferred Must be comfortable serving the public face to face or remotely using technology and able to work effectively both independently and in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to travel between campuses as necessary. Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish Strong knowledge of the community college system working with individuals of diverse backgrounds.Additional Information:
