The Assistant Principal at Alfred J. In partnership with the principal, staff, families, and community, the Assistant Principal supports the academic, linguistic, social, and emotional development of every child, ensuring alignment with our core values of Leadership, Effort, Ambition, Respect, and Navigation (LEARN/APRENDO). This role is instrumental in promoting rigorous, language-rich instruction in both English and Spanish, where students actively engage in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking across content areas. Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English are preferred, as they will help strengthen our dual language program, deepen family engagement, and support students in becoming confident, multilingual learners and leaders in a diverse world. REQUIREMENTS
1.Certified as an elementary school principal by the Mass. Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, with at least five years of successful teaching experience or administrative experience at the primary level. 2.Evidence of administrative and leadership ability. 3.Evidence of capacity and disposition to work cooperatively with pupils, parents, teachers, staff, and school administrators. 4.Demonstrated knowledge of the Elementary School Concept highly preferred. 5.History of outstanding attendance at work and school activities. 6.Familiarity with No Child Left Behind rules and regulations, School Improvement Planning and IDEA. 1.Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. 2.Works collaboratively as a member of the Elementary School administrative team. 3.Assumes responsibility for curriculum supervision and instruction for Elementary School. 4.Coordinates all curriculum development and implementation with the principal, directors, teacher, etc. 5.Assumes responsibility for the administration of the school's testing program, i.e. MCAS, etc. 6.Assists the principal in the development, implementation and follow-up of all professional development initiatives. 7.Works with directors and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests. 8.Performs such record keeping functions as the principal may direct. 9.Serves with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives during and after school day, with some evening assignments. 10.Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary. 11.Assists the principal in supervising co-curricular activities. 12.Assists the principal in the scheduling of teachers and students. 13.Assists in the proposal of schedules of classes and co-curricular activities. 14.Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment, conducting inventories, maintaining records, and checking on receipts for such materials. 15.Assumes the responsibility for the coordination and assignment of substitute personnel, as necessary. 16.Assist the principal in evaluating all teachers according to the Unit A Contract. 17.Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign.
