School-Age Assistant Director - Before & After School Program Kids Adventures is seeking a responsible, creative, and highly motivated School-Age Assistant Director for our before- and after-school program located at Takoma Park Elementary School. The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, organized, and committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children ages 5 through 10. This position assists with daily program operations, staff supervision, licensing compliance, family communication, curriculum implementation, and special events. Our program operates Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. We also provide care on select MCPS early-release days, professional days, and school holidays. Key Responsibilities Support the Site Director with the daily operation of the program Supervise and guide staff to ensure professionalism and compliance with company policies Ensure staff maintain active supervision and prioritize the safety and needs of the children Help implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans, clubs, and enrichment activities Maintain compliance with Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care regulations Promote teamwork and lead staff by example Help maintain accurate child, staff, attendance, and licensing records Assist with center enrollment, registration forms, and the program waitlist Communicate with families in a friendly, professional, and timely manner Respond to parent questions, emails, and phone calls appropriately Assist with staff meetings, newsletters, parent notices, and program updates Help plan and host monthly family events, Family Fun Nights, and parent meetings Assist with managing the center's snack and supply budget Ensure classrooms and program spaces remain clean, organized, safe, and welcoming Establish positive relationships with children, families, school personnel, and staff Serve as the acting Site Director when the Site Director is unavailable Qualifications At least two years of experience working with school-age children Previous childcare leadership or management experience Must meet, or be able to meet, the qualifications required by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care 90-Hour School-Age Child Care Certification 45-Hour Administrative Certification ADA Training Basic Health and Safety Training Emergency Preparedness Training Nine-Hour Communication Course or approved college-course equivalent Current CPR and First Aid Certification Medication Administration Training preferred Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills Comfortable using email, computers, and childcare-management systems Dependable, professional, patient, and able to work effectively as part of a team Passionate about creating fun, enriching, and inclusive experiences for children Benefits Paid Time Off Health insurance Dental and vision coverage 401(k) retirement plan Professional-development opportunities Supportive and collaborative work environment Qualified candidates must successfully complete all required background checks and provide documentation of applicable training, certifications, and experience.
