EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, plans, directs, and controls County-wide solid waste management and recycling activities and programs and/or street sweeping and roll-off operations. Prepares, assigns, and reviews work of Solid Waste Supervisors, Crew Chiefs, and others engaged in solid waste and recycling collection, street sweeping, and roll-off activities. Coordinates solid waste management activities of the bureau. Oversees and monitors refuse and recycling collection performed by private haulers. Audits private collection routes to assure compliance with contract provisions. Reviews and modifies refuse collection and curbside recycling collection routes. Computes compensation due private contractors. Oversees and monitors street sweeping and roll-off operations performed by the County. Reviews and modifies street sweeping routes. Receives, investigates and resolves complaints from the public. Serves as a liaison between the bureau, refuse collectors, and the public. Represents the bureau at neighborhood association meetings. Develops, implements, and modifies solid waste management procedures and methods. Reassigns staff and amends work schedules to assure adequate coverage. Keeps records and prepares and compiles reports of work activitiesAnalyzes program productivity and efficiency.

Licenses and CertificatesPossession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
