School Year Job Summary:
The School-Age Child Care Site Administrator is responsible for the daily operation, supervision, and compliance of the school-age childcare program serving children ages 5-12. This role ensures a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment while maintaining full compliance with Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Child Care Center rules.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred in Education, Child Development, or related field Experience in licensed childcare settings Familiarity with MiRegistry and licensing systems Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills Work positively and effectively with both adults and children. Take initiative to understand and work with a variety of children with diverse interests, abilities, and ages. Knowledge of child development and planning developmentally appropriate activities. Flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills. All necessary forms must be in your office file before you begin (criminal background check, DHS clearance, MiLEAP eligibility, Consent & Disclosure Form, Screening Statement, Handbook Acknowledgement, and all required training by licensing)
Job Duties:
Oversee daily operations of the before/after school and childcare program Ensure activities are age-appropriate (5-12) and include enrichment, recreation, and homework support Create and maintain a positive, structured, and engaging environment Maintain full compliance with Michigan Child Care Center Licensing Rules (R 400) Ensure active supervision of children at all times Monitor and maintain required staff-to-child ratios Keep all required records current (attendance, sign-in/out, incident reports, staffing schedules) Prepare for licensing visits and correct any violations promptly Train and supervise school-age staff Ensure all staff complete the required MiRegistry training hours Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards Handle injuries, incidents, and report to the Program Administrator Implement emergency procedures and drills Serve as the main contact for families Communicate student needs, behavior concerns, and program updates Collaborate with school-day staff and administration Stay updated on school communications via office mailbox, email, and weekly SMORE newsletter. Attend all staff meetings and professional development Perform any duties as asked by the
