Living Stipend (pre-tax) $1236 twice/month for 40 hrs/wk or $800 twice/month for 25 hrs/wk Segal Education award upon successful completion of service of $5,176.50 for 40 hrs/wk and $3,697.50 for 25 hrs/wkPosition Overview:
AmeriCorps Promise Fellows are a part of a statewide cohort of individuals supporting 6th-12th grade students. Promise Fellows train alongside other individuals that have answered the call to serve, providing one-on-one and small group support for students who are struggling to engage in school. Promise Fellows focus on increasing student attendance, on-time-to-school rates, school engagement, and student mental health by: Providing weekly 1:1 mentorship to up to 30 students Providing an extra layer of mental health support for students (all Promise Fellows are trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid and Motivational Interviewing) Supporting with Out of School Time Activities such as tutoring, student clubs, or after-school programs that keep students engaged Collaborating with students and staff to develop and encourage service learning and student leadership activitiesYou Will Learn:
Impact Student Success. As a part of your service, you will be trained on topics that enrich your understanding of and ability to support middle and high school students in Minnesota. As a Promise Fellow, you will learn how to navigate and understand the systems that affect students in Minnesota, and identify and enact solutions to the changes that your students are facing. Amplify youth voice. You will be trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid, Motivational Interviewing and the Establish, Maintain, Restore (EMR) relationship method, which strengthens young people's autonomy and empowers them to create change. Deepen self-awareness. During your Promise Fellow service, you will be able to explore and clarify your unique strengths and interests and how to use those to meet your personal and professional goals. Practice leadership. As a Promise Fellow, you will have the chance to develop and exercise lifelong leadership skills that will make you a powerful force for good. MinimumQUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age or older by the time of program start date Must have at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational qualification Must be either a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States Must be able to pass National Service Criminal Service History Background check (including National Sex Offender Registry, State of service and State of residence, and FBI checks) - eligibility requirements listed hereAdditional Benefits:
