Job Description

This position will serve as the general advising contact for students. Responsibilities will include assisting students with appropriate courses and program of study selection and explaining program of study plans, admission, financial aid assistance, and registration procedures. The Advisor will work as part of the Enrollment Services team with recruitment efforts, advisement, and retention efforts. Additional duties include but not limited to: Assist students in planning educational programs compatible with their interests, needs, and abilities. Assist with registering for classes. Provide support to specified cohort of students by connecting students to internal and external resources. Communicate with students via phone, student email and text with use of texting software resource that is available. Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to during business regarding students, supervisors, or other employees. Represent the college at appropriate community events, college, and career fairs that are hosted on main campus. Responsible for developing case-management strategies to ensure and increase student retention and completion of identified students by using retention software. Inform new students of requirements for academic transfer and professional/technical programs and/or degrees. Explain program of study plans, admission, and registration procedures. Assist with assessment and financial aid, and other requirements necessary for enrollment. Assist students in clarifying educational, career, and life goals. Assist students with appropriate courses and program of study selection. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Contributes to the overall mission of the college by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor's degree required
Experience:
1-2 years in an advising setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to make public presentations as required. Ability to plan and manage own workflow, priorities, and report accomplishments. Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee and student population. Salary range is $18.46 per hour.
