Job Description

NuView Academy - Public school serving students kindergarten through grade 12 with coordinated mental health services provided by clinical support staff. NuView Academy 1 Park Ave Piscataway, NJ 08854
POSITION:
Anticipated Principal NuView Academy (12 Months Position)
START DATE
July 1, 2026 (Preferred) - Pending Criminal History Clearance
QUALIFICATIONS
Standard New Jersey State Principal Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility. Master's degree in education from an accredited college/university. Minimum of two (2) years administrative experience in special education or pupil personnel services. Experience in curriculum development, supervision and instructional practices. Knowledge of and experience in program design, effective models for student learning. Knowledge of and identification of grants and foundations for funding. Alternatives to the above qualifications the Commission may find appropriate.
SCOPE:
The principal will design and implement the highest quality educational programs and services at the assigned school(s) needed to implement students' Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and conform to Commission, state and federal regulations.
REPORTS TO
Superintendent of Schools or Designee.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement the highest quality special education services and programs, as needed, based on student individual educational plans. Supervise and evaluate all educational programs and services to assure full compliance with state and federal monitoring. Supervise and evaluate instructional and support staff, according to contract law and board policies. Maintain all records of fiscal matters pertaining to the school budget. Assure that all student IEPs are fully implemented, using appropriate teaching strategies, aligned to student learning styles. Assure that appropriate instructional materials and supplies are utilized by staff, aligned to student IEPs and board approved curricula. Establish liaison community, advisory, parent/guardian committees and maintain records of meetings. Maintain ongoing clear and timely communication/written reports to the Superintendent, and complete state and federal reports as required. Serve as primary person responsible for uniform student intake process, procedures, assuring supportive and open communication with parent/guardian, resident referral child study team, and personnel. Develop annual schedule and/or reorganize classes, as needed, based on student assignment. Develop and monitor all staff schedule assignments, adhering to labor contract, board policies, and statute. Provide effective staff agenda and meetings for ongoing communication purposes and provide opportunities for professional improvement for all staff. Provide for ongoing communication with students' resident districts. Develop meetings for parents and siblings to provide opportunities for their involvement in student learning. Interview and recommend appropriately certified and qualified staff for the schools. Assume responsibility for the ongoing assurance of safety and health procedures and safety and security drills within the buildings. Maintain all school and student records as required by state, federal and other agencies. Initiate educational programs and services to enhance student learning offerings and make modifications as needed. Initiate and develop funding proposals/grants to maintain, improve, and enhance student services. Responsible for the procurement of all instructional supplies and equipment required to support the school program. Maintain an aesthetically attractive and physically safe building for students, staff and community. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
Keep abreast of progress and new developments as they relate to professional assignments, administration curriculum, special education/pupil personnel services and professional organizations that will contribute to the effectiveness of the school and Commission as a whole. Participate in organizational activities and professional groups, which will enhance the effectiveness of your leadership.
