Connor Middle School Salary:
$92,500 - $95,000
Responsibilities:
1 . Demonstrate instructional leadership in providing a positive and productive environment for students and staff; place high priority on the needs and welfare of students in the context of preparing them for success beyond middle school. 2. Collect, analyze and use appropriate data to improve teaching and learning. 3 . Promote sound/effective educational practices that are supported by research, exhibit flexible thinking and openness to new ideas. 4. Effectively engage staff, parents, students, and community members in shared decision-making opportunities. 5. Actively engage in the Middle School community through regular classroom visitation and attend before/after school events. 6. a) Successfully conduct a hiring process reflecting a shared decision-making model that consistently recommends the employment of candidates who are ethical, highly skilled, service-oriented, and student centered b) Practice sound personnel policies, develop leadership standards in the Middle School staff c) Promote positive building morale and demonstrate effective evaluation techniques 7. Develop and implement efficient and effective plans in the following areas: a) Ensure a safe environment for students, staff and community members. b) Fiscal accountability in school budget and finance. c) Recruitment and selection of instructional and support staffing. d) Assignment of instructional and support staffing. e) Supervise guidance and preparation for master schedule. f) Curriculum study and development in accordance with NYS Standards. g) Maintain student discipline/student conduct following the Code of Conduct. h) Supervise and administer student attendance regulation. i) Assimilate and assist new instructional and support staff. j) Integrate technology to improve/support instruction, communication, and administration. k) Supervise the utilization, preservation, and care of all school property. l) Train and supervise office staff. m. Building maintenance and safety 8. Ensures a differentiated instructional progress supporting the various learning needs. 9. Actively participate in district-wide activities pertaining to a variety of issues including instructional and organizational development. 10. Work collegially and collaboratively with the District and building leadership teams. 11. Fosters an environment to support the social, emotional and academic needs of all students. 12. Ensure compliance with the Commissioner's Regulations of the State of New York, the Policies of the Grand Island Central School District's Board of Education and the GICSD's practices and procedures as directed by the Superintendent of Schools. 13. All other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Required:
Valid NYS SBL Certification Master's Degree with an emphasis on educational leadership and instruction Minimum 5 years experience in education,including teaching and leadership roles Demonstrate leadership in providing a positive,productive environment for students and staff; place high priority on the needs of students in the context of preparing them for success beyond middle school Demonstrate instructional leadership in the implementation of NYS Learning Standards across all disciplines Assume responsibility for student conduct and discipline Be visible/active by regularly visiting classrooms to promote positive student conduct, hallways, cafeteria and attending before/after school, evening and weekend events Assist the principal in the collection, analysis and use of data to improve all aspects of the middle school, including instructional and building management
