Title of Position:
Elementary School Principal ________________________________________________________________________________
Qualifications:
1. Working knowledge of Next Generation Learning Standards and NY state assessments 2. The ability and commitment to use technology as an instructional tool 3. Strong understanding of the Science of Reading and Science of Mathematics 4. Uncompromising commitment to continuous improvement 5. Broad experience with a variety of instructional techniques 6. Ability to differentiate instruction for accelerated and delayed learners 7. Evidence of strong classroom management skills with age appropriate experiences 8. Strong understanding of district and state policies and regulations. 9. Strong understanding of special education and the MTSS processes 10. Flexibility, enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to develop programs and collaborate with and support other staff 11. Loyalty and evidence of being a team player 12. Commitment to equity and inclusion of all members of the school community

The successful candidate will possess the following:
Requirements:
Earned Master's Degree Current applicable New York State administrative certification Prior successful experience in leadership roles at the elementary level (strongly preferred) Skills/Traits - The principal must: Demonstrate the highest expectations for student learning and behavior Be capable of managing many complex tasks with competing priorities Possess strong leadership and team management skills Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills Be organized, self-managed, and able to handle many responsibilities simultaneously Have excellent problem-solving skills Be committed to building a community of collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders Be a self-aware leader who knows how to treat all members of the school's community with respect Be dependable and have excellent follow-through Have a strong personal commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth Be an effective and persuasive communicator, orally and in writing Responsibilities - The principal will be expected to: Academic and Instructional Foster an uncompromising commitment to increasing student achievement and the graduation rate with an emphasis on college and career readiness Provide instructional leadership, coaching, and support to teachers who are working with a diverse student body Ensure the use of a wide variety of assessments that, together, reflect the educational philosophy of the District and prepare students to excel on state assessment measures Demonstrate the ability to facilitate the execution of the standards-based curriculum with an emphasis on technology integration Demonstrate a strong understanding and ability to lead the Data Analysis and Planning Process Possess a clear understanding of special education and English Language Learner regulations and educational programming School Culture and Community Define and build a transformative school culture consistent with the District's Strategic Plan for Continuous Improvement and School Comprehensive Education Plan Demonstrate success with developing and maintaining positive relationships with all members of the community to accomplish the goals of the District Believe in and support implementation of alternative and innovative methods of assisting students in meeting expectations Demonstrate an understanding of a progressive approach to conflict resolution and student discipline Communicate the district's vision and goals Understand the importance of diversity and inclusion and to promote experiences, interactions, and activities to support these Demonstrate the ability to use multiple sources of data collection to assess student performance and plan instruction Operations, Finance, and Compliance Manage and support school operations staff Report on activities, organizational development progress, and student achievement Monitor the school's budget and ensure daily financial and business activities are in compliance with the District's fiscal policies Ensure school alignment and/or progress toward alignment with organizational goals for diversity The Lockport City School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national Job Attachment Salary Competitive Y Appointment Status Probationary Position Status Full time Start Date 7/1/2026 Required Certification Type School Admin & Supv {1180}, School Building Leader {1012} Contact Person's Name Lisa Schrader Contact Person's Title Deputy Superintendent Contact Person's Phone 716-478-4826 Contact Person's Email applications@lockportschools.net
