Job Description:
The TRIO Peer Connector serves as a mentor, guide, and resource for fellow students within the TRIO program. You will help students navigate campus life, connect them with academic resources, and foster a sense of community. This is an ideal role for students who are passionate about helping others succeed and want to develop leadership and professional communication skills.
Key Responsibilities Peer Mentorship:
Provide one-on-one and group support to TRIO students to help them acclimate to the college environment.
Resource Navigation:
Guide students toward campus services such as tutoring, financial aid, and career counseling.
Event Support:
Assist in the planning and execution of TRIO workshops, cultural trips, and academic seminars.
Outreach:
Conduct check-ins with assigned "mentees" to ensure they are meeting program requirements and hitting academic milestones.
Administrative Assistance:
Maintain accurate logs of student interactions and assist with light office tasks as needed. This is a soft launch of the Peer Connector program, and new Peer Connectors will generally be asked for assistance with event support and workshops this semester, in-house student assistance (using the printers, computer trouble shooting, etc.), and administrative assistance, with opportunities to grow in future semesters.
Requirements:
Current Student:
Must be a currently enrolled student in TRIO Student Support Services at
OCC Academic Standing:
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to speak comfortably with diverse groups of people or willingness to learn!
Reliability:
Proven ability to manage time effectively and follow a set schedule.
Recommendation:
Must be able to obtain a letter of recommendation from your

Peer connectors will commit to 2-4 hours a week.
