Aug 1, 2026 Job Description The Lorain County JVS is a public high school that provides career-technical training and academic courses for high school students grades 9-12. In addition the Adult Career Center offers training and educational opportunities for adults.

SALARY:
Appropriate step on Administrative Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education
BENEFITS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Five or more years verified successful teaching experience preferably in a career and technical field or environment Earned Master's Degree or higher 7-12 Principal's Licensure and/or appropriate State of Ohio certification/licensure as required for this position Successful secondary teaching and building administration experience Knowledge of Ohio School Law Proven ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Willingness to work with local business & industry to develop contacts for training programs Able and willing to obtain van driving permit and ability to pass criminal background check Prior experience supervising students both in and out of the classroom Excellent understanding of career and technical programming Exemplary organizational and problem solving skills Willingness to actively participate in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO'S) Effective, active listening skills Proven understanding of current teaching methods and strategies Excellent public relations skills Team player, willingness to work effectively in a team environment Excellent understanding of technology and how it can be successfully used to enhance the teaching/learning process Experience working with teachers, parents/guardians and students in difficult situations Experience with the budgetary process as it relates to school finance Working knowledge of special education procedures as defined by the Ohio model Past experience working with special needs students Experience working in an environment in which progressive student disciplinary strategies were used Willingness to work varied shifts, evenings, weekends Ability to work effectively with others
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Verifiable experience with the supervision and evaluation of classroom teachers and instructional aides Prior experience in a Career Tech leadership/management role Proven experience working directly with a wide variety of career tech programs
DUTIES:
Supervise, evaluate and work closely with the high school and adult education staff Responsible for student discipline Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents Assist in the selection, retention and promotion of certified and non-certified personnel Prepare all reports and maintain such records as required by school law Direct and coordinate the classified staff assigned to the high school and adult career center Assist with the development of the Student Handbook Assist with directing the activities of school staff members Implement and monitor all Board policies and regulations
