Full Job Description Job Goal :
Assists the Administrator and Coordinator in all matters related to programs, personnel, administration, and communication of ACCESS.
Qualifications:
Valid Alabama teaching certificate with certification in special education required Master's Degree and Administrative Certification required Minimum of five (5) years' experience in special education Valid Alabama driver's license Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills The ability to be a self-starter and work independently, as well as a team player in team responsibilities The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions The ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from students, teachers, administrators, parents, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders The ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports Strong computer skills in database systems and presentation graphics
Essential Functions:
Supervises ACCESS teachers to ensure students with
IEP/504/EL
plans are being accommodated Schedules and executes training for ACCESS teachers regarding documentation and making accommodations in ACCESS Schoology courses Assists in the recruiting and training of ACCESS online and VCI teachers, in addition to training for administrators, counselors, and facilitators Liaison with the Alabama State Department of Education and support center partners in reference to the ACCESS Distance Learning program Attends necessary meetings with the Alabama State Department of Education and support center partners in reference to the ACCESS Distance Learning initiative Knowledge and understanding of the school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA), 504, and EL plans Recommends and coordinates appropriate staff development activities Assists in the planning and delivery of training events for regional ACCESS staff Assists in resolving ACCESS Distance Learning student discipline issues Prepares state reports and plans as assigned Works cooperatively with others Addresses the needs of parents and students related to assigned areas Attends IEP, 504, and EL meetings as directed Demonstrates professional ethics and confidentiality Attends professional meetings, writes reports, and maintains records Other duties as assigned This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools. Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
