Centralia College is on a 30-acre campus of modern buildings set among walking paths, lawns, and native plantings just a few blocks from the heart of Centralia, Washington. The college has served students in the Lewis County region since 1925 and is the oldest continuously operating community college in Washington State. The city of Centralia is a historic railroad and river shipping hub with a vibrant downtown and railway station. As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, English as a Second Language (ESL), and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees. In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Job Description The Director, Student Leadership and Involvement, plans, develops, and directs comprehensive student engagement experiences and services to meet the diverse needs and interests of the Centralia College student body. The Director supervises and supports a team of professional and student staff to provide comprehensive leadership training and skill building for Student Activities and Advocacy Leadership Team (SAALT), supports student organizations and honor societies, coordinates campus wide student trainings, civic engagement efforts. The director serves as the college liaison to College Housing International and is responsible for maintaining legal compliance with laws and college polices that impact student life including but not limited to: Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program and biennial review, antihazing laws, consumer information disclosures, and equity. This is an exempt, administrative position that serves on the student services leadership team and reports to the vice president of student services. All leaders in student services are expected to directly support campus equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, participate in campus assessment and planning, and actively work to fulfill the college's mission. Duties and Responsibilities Oversee Student Life and Involvement Programs and Office Operations(50%) Serve as the primary advisor for the SAALT Coordinate leadership training for all student organizations including but not limited to: SAALT, student organizations, student honor societies, athletics, Esports Develop and implement a comprehensive student life program that includes events and opportunities to fully engage students in their college experience outside of the classroom Ensure student representatives are identified and assigned to serve on college committees Implement a full program assessment to identify program strengths and areas for improvement Review and maintain the student financial code, SAALT bylaws and constitution Coordinate the student use fee and services and activities fee budget process to ensure a budget gets approved by the Board of Trustees by their June meeting Supervise student trips including driving college owned vans that will include night and weekend hours Manage the diversity lounge, food pantry, lost and found and other Student Leadership and Involvement programs Ensure budgets are balanced and maintained Manage the overall operations of Esports Supervision and Leadership (20%) Provide leadership and supervision to full-time, part-time staff, and student staff Conduct annual evaluations for all employees as outlined in collective bargaining agreements and college policies Ensure timecards are submitted by payroll deadlines Serve as a student services representative on various college and community committees Serve as chair of the legislatively mandated Hazing Prevention Committee Oversee staff development efforts Create and Sustain an Equitable, Inclusive and Diverse Learning Experience for Students (20%) Collaborate with students to develop clubs that meet student unique needs Develop and implement a wide array of programming that allows students to learn about those who are not like them Collaborate with college and community partners to participate in locally and nationally identified efforts to recognize students who come from groups who have been historically underserved Administrative Responsibilities (10%) Serve as the Student Services lead on the development, implementation, and review of the Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program Coordinate all required and optional student trainings Coordinate student civic engagement efforts including voter registration and education, and governmental engagement Ensure compliance with the state and federal anti-hazing laws Act as the liaison to College Housing International to ensure student needs are being met Serve as a Clery Campus Security Authority and an Evacuation Building Monitor Qualifications Sufficient combination of education, work, and lived experience to demonstrate ability to meeting the following expectations (generally, competitive candidates will have a bachelor's degree and three or more years of progressively responsible work experience in higher education or a related field): Train staff on student development theory and its application in daily engagement work with students Balance program development, supervision, and one-on-one interaction with students Guide staff in decision making and support services from a diversity, equity, and inclusion perspective Lead projects and initiatives requiring significant responsibility but limited authority Work collaboratively with campus divisions including instruction, business office, facilities, security, information technology, marketing, institutional research Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Preferred Qualifications Master's degree Direct experience in student supervision, student life programming, equity work, and event planning Prior experience at a community collegeKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Physical Requirements The physical demands of the Director of Student Leadership and Involvement position require employees to regularly talk, hear, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, assembling components, or performing repetitive motions is essential. Employees must be able to sit occasionally, stand and/or walk for over 5 hours of the workday, bend and twist at the waist frequently, reach from knee to shoulder level frequently and above shoulder level occasionally, and lift or move up to 25 pounds. Conditions of Employment This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time administrative exempt position. The salary is $89,000-$94,000 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
