Job Description

Possess the instructional expertise necessary to directly assist principals in curriculum implementation. Work as a member of the Elementary Learning Community and the Deputy Superintendent Leadership Team, as requested and/or needed, collaborating with other team members and members of the Curriculum and Instruction team so that the Division accomplishes the development and implementation of content and competencies, supports teachers as designers of learning experiences, and provides overall support for teaching and learning. Support principals as leaders and focus on system answer ability and accountability. Lead and support professional learning opportunities that are designed to develop core competencies needed to be a successful building principal. Participate in the hiring processes for selecting elementary school principals and assistant principals, as requested/needed. Serve as a leadership coach and strategic partner to school principals, ensuring high-quality instruction, equitable student outcomes, and effective school systems across the learning community. Develop principal capacity through coaching, data-driven continuous improvement, instructional leadership, and systems alignment. Work collaboratively with district departments to remove barriers, elevate instructional quality, and accelerate student achievement. Lead and support professional learning opportunities for principals. Develop principal capacity through coaching, instructional walkthroughs, and ongoing leadership development aligned to district priorities and school improvement goals. Monitor and support the implementation of high-quality instructional practices, curriculum, assessment, intervention structures, and data-driven instructional processes across assigned schools. Utilize data to identify trends, determine school support needs, and monitor progress toward student outcome goals. Lead and support principals in developing, implementing, monitoring, and adjusting continuous improvement plans that are aligned to district strategic priorities and focused on measurable student growth. Support principals in strengthening Tier 1 instruction, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and evidence-based instructional practices to improve student achievement and reduce learning gaps. Conduct regular school visits focused on instructional quality, student engagement, systems implementation, and leadership effectiveness, providing actionable feedback and clear next steps following observations. Support principals in effectively addressing personnel matters, operational concerns, parent and community issues, and implementation of district policies and procedures. Evaluate assigned principals utilizing the
SDE PADEPP
instrument. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role. Serve as an active member of the district leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, district initiatives, and continuous organizational improvement. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Superintendent of the Elementary Learning Community. Master's degree, EdS. preferred Current South Carolina Administration Certification Valid South Carolina Drivers License Eligibility for Superintendent Certification in South Carolina, preferred Minimum of 8-10 years in education with 5 of those years as a principal, assistant principal or district level administrator Proven track record as change agent and improving student outcomes Knowledgeable in curriculum, assessment and instructional programs for grades PK-5
