ABOUT RENAISSANCE ACADEMY
Renaissance Academy is a nationally accredited private K-12 school in Austin, Texas, recognized by Cognia, SACS, and CASI. This newly created role expands our capacity to provide students with meaningful Islamic spiritual guidance and character formation beyond the classroom. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Islamic Studies Director / Youth Imam provides school-wide Islamic spiritual leadership, mentorship, and character programming across all grade levels. This role is distinct from and complementary to the QAIS Department Head, which governs curriculum and academic oversight. This position focuses exclusively on student spiritual formation, pastoral care, and school-wide Islamic programming.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▪ Lead school-wide Islamic character and tarbiyah programming ▪ Serve as a pastoral resource for students navigating faith questions ▪ Provide spiritual mentorship to students across all grade levels ▪ Partner with counselors and administration on student wellness ▪ Deliver weekly Jumu'ah Khutbah and lead school prayer gatherings ▪ Engage families and the broader Muslim community in school programs ▪ Develop and facilitate Islamic enrichment events and retreats ▪ Foster Islamic school culture — separate from curriculum management
QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Bachelor's degree required; advanced Islamic credential preferred ▪ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills ▪ Demonstrated experience in youth Islamic leadership or chaplaincy ▪ Experience working with K-12 or youth populations ▪ Strong knowledge of Qur'an, Sunnah, and Islamic jurisprudence ▪ Ability to collaborate within a structured academic environment
