JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title Specialist, PTECH Evaluation Type Professional Department Curriculum & Instruction Pay Grade A3 FLSA Exempt Date Revised March 2026 Supervisor Director of College, Career, & Military Readiness
BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY
The P-TECH Specialist supports the implementation of the
TEA P-TECH
Blueprint by providing comprehensive student supports and facilitating communication between secondary and postsecondary partners. This role ensures students successfully navigate both the high school and college systems while progressing toward completion of a high school diploma and postsecondary credentials. The P-TECH Specialist works closely with students, campus staff, and the Institution of Higher Education (IHE) to strengthen academic advising, monitor student progress, and ensure alignment with the P-TECH Benchmarks related to partnerships, academic infrastructure, and student support systems. P-TECH programs combine high school and postsecondary coursework and provide wrap-around support to help students successfully complete industry certifications and Level I certificates.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Counseling or advising background preferred Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned ESL Supplemental certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of continuous improvement process Skill in using technology as a learning tool in all content areas Skill in engaging others in collective inquiry and problem solving Skill in collecting, analyzing, and using data to support student learning Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing Ability to collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities Knowledge of college readiness, dual credit programs, and early college pathways Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, staff, and postsecondary partners Ability to organize and monitor student academic progress data Knowledge of student support strategies and academic intervention practices Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Experience:
Industry experience within area of PTECH content assignment preferred Experience in working with an Institution of Higher Education preferred Experience working with high school or college students in advising, mentoring, or student support roles preferred Experience with P-TECH, Early College High School, or dual credit programs preferred

Instructional Management:
Collaborate with adjunct faculty in utilizing ongoing formative assessments to provide real time intervention. Assist adjunct faculty in recognizing and responding to the needs of diverse learners. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Use instructional technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Support and participate in meeting the objectives of the campus/department improvement plans. Support students enrolled in various programs by implementing plans administered by the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee, Section 504 Committee, Response to Intervention Committee and Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee.
Student Management:
Provide academic advising and individualized support to P-TECH students enrolled in dual credit and pathway coursework. Monitor student progress toward completion of high school graduation requirements, dual credit courses, and postsecondary credentials. Identify students experiencing academic or personal challenges and coordinate appropriate intervention strategies and supports. Facilitate study groups, tutorials, and workshops focused on college readiness and academic success. Serve as the primary liaison between students, campus staff, and college faculty to support communication and student success. Assist students with navigating college systems including course registration, learning management systems, and academic support services. Support implementation of the
TEA P-TECH
Blueprint and district program requirements. Coordinate onboarding, recruitment, and orientation activities for prospective and incoming P-TECH students. Assist with scheduling and coordination of P-TECH dual credit coursework with campus and college partners. Analyze student readiness data to support placement and recruitment into P-TECH pathways. Track and monitor student progress related to course completion, credit accumulation, and postsecondary credential attainment. Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and program staff to implement early intervention strategies for at-risk students. Communicate with parents, guardians, and stakeholders regarding student progress using district-approved communication methods. Maintain required records, reports, and documentation in accordance with district policies and program requirements. Participate in meetings, professional development, recruitment activities, and other assigned campus or district initiatives. Management of Administrative, Fiscal and/or
Facilities Functions:
Serve as a liaison between the school and PTECH dual credit partners. Work with PTECH dual credit and campus teams to ensure that early interventions are in place to support struggling students. Exhibit a high degree of initiative in response to requests for curricular/instructional support. Support PTECH dual credit classrooms to include working with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom. Coordinate tutorials and ongoing study groups for students as needed throughout the semester. Plan and deliver parent meetings for PTECH dual credit recruitment. Conduct informational and recruitment visits at middle schools to build a pipeline for PTECH dual credit enrollment. Work with principals to support scheduling of PTECH dual credit classes on both high school and college campuses. Serve as case manager for at-risk PTECH dual credit students. Work collaboratively with District staff to serve the needs of all student groups according to the guidelines established in policy. Assist in monitoring students and creating a safe campus environment by reporting to duty assignments as assigned by principal. Attend campus events and extracurricular activities, as assigned. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Compile, maintain, and submit reports, records, and other documents, as required. Plan and supervise assignments of volunteers in the classroom, when applicable. Follow District and department policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with industry partners.
Organization Improvement:
Support the mission and vision of the campus and District. Analyze critical needs in assigned areas and work collaboratively to implement and improve programs.
Professional Growth and Development:
Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills that are aligned with campus and program specific needs.
Texas Academic Performance Indicators and Campus Performance Objectives:
Analyze data to determine and address individual student needs. Administer state-mandated testing at campuses in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Monitor and review campus test data and use findings to assist with planning corrective action for the affected group of students and/or campuses.
School/Community Relations:
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Establish and maintain the desire and ability to work in classrooms alongside teacher colleagues and contribute collaboratively as a team member. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers. Interface with governmental agencies, business and civic organizations, and the community to provide needed information and to promote the District's initiatives.
Organization Morale:
Foster positive morale by participating in team building activities and the decision-making process. Communicate and collaborate with campus/department staff to enhance service delivery, program development, and customer satisfaction.
Other Responsibilities:
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
