Coach evaluators to improve their skills in evaluating students, interpreting data, and creating individualized educational plans through observation activities, feedback, and critical thinking Monitor staff activities by overseeing campus assignments, reviewing caseload, distributing referrals, tracking productivity, and assuring quality of evaluation reports Monitor, assess, and develop plans to reduce significant disproportionality in the Results Driven Accountability (RDA) report. Develop, submit, and administer an approved budget aligned with department goals and program needs Consult with campus staff, administrators, parents and other stakeholders on special educations rules and regulations, programming, instructional/behavioral supports, and monitor PEIMS compliance Collaborate with various district departments to provide information on best practices in evaluation Participate in evaluation activities on an as needed basis to meet timelines (e.g., reviewing referral documentation to obtain consent; analyzing and interpreting evaluation results to complete full and individual evaluations (FIEs); attending Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings to present evaluation findings; recommending appropriate instructional interventions and placement; and reviewing outside evaluations provided by other districts, agencies, and/or parents Represent the evaluation program in critical ARD meetings to address concerns involving evaluation, de-escalate problem situations, provide coaching and feedback to campus administrators, and collaborate with stakeholders on recommendations for resolution Collaborate with the coordinator to develop and deliver training sessions for evaluation staff, campus teachers, support staff, and administrators on various topics, including special education evaluation procedures, behavior and mental health, instructional interventions, placement recommendations, and special education laws. Maintain required accountability documentation to document support activities Maintain professional competency by keeping abreast of current trends in evaluation, instructional strategies, ethics, and special education laws Engage in professional behaviors that reflect integrity, accountability, and moral standards Interview, hire, train, and appraise staff Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university Preferred Master's Degree from an accredited university Preferred Certification in Special Education or an education-related field required; Evaluator credentials; previous Supervisor experience preferred Preferred Certification as Educational Diagnostician or LSSP Required 5+ Direct Minimum of 5 years of directly related experiance Extensive knowledge and experience with the student referral, evaluation identification process, diagnostic procedures, and education of special education students Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others and the ability to utilize performance accountability measures Knowledge of special education principles, theories, and laws (federal and state) Experience working with children and youth in a special education setting; experience in an urban school setting and/or in a multicultural education environment preferred Demonstrate ability to resolve logistical and operational problems; make data driven decisions Ability to manage a budget Knowledge of special education information systems and efficient work processes Effective oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and a collaborative work style Effective organizational skills to achieve the goals of the position
