Assistant Director Mariner Montessori at The Woodlands Position Summary Mariner Montessori at The Woodlands is seeking a passionate, organized, and motivated Assistant Director to help lead our growing Montessori school. Working closely with the Director, the Assistant Director ensures the school operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and educational excellence. This individual serves as a positive leader for staff, builds strong relationships with families, and helps create a nurturing, respectful environment where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The Assistant Director is expected to uphold and model the Mariner Montessori Philosophy , which fosters independence, curiosity, respect, and a lifelong love of learning through child-centered education and carefully prepared environments. Preferred Qualifications Child Development Associate (CDA) or higher in Early Childhood Education Experience with Texas Rising Star (TRS) Strong knowledge of Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards Experience using childcare management software (Procare preferred) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to lead with professionalism, integrity, and compassion Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership & School Operations Assist the Director with the daily operation of the school. Maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized learning environment. Promote the mission, vision, and values of Mariner Montessori. Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture. Model professionalism, integrity, and leadership. Support continuous improvement across all classrooms and school operations. Licensing & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards. Assist in preparing for Licensing inspections and Texas Rising Star assessments. Monitor classroom ratios and active supervision. Conduct classroom observations and compliance audits. Maintain accurate licensing documentation and required records. Ensure children's files remain complete and current. Promote health, safety, and sanitation standards throughout the school. Texas Rising Star (TRS) Support implementation of Texas Rising Star standards. Coach teachers on high-quality classroom practices. Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback. Assist with quality improvement plans. Monitor classroom environments and curriculum implementation. Prepare documentation for TRS mentor visits and assessments. Encourage continuous quality improvement throughout the school. Staff Leadership & Development Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees. Coordinate new employee orientation. Coach and mentor teachers through regular classroom observations. Support employee professional development and training. Assist with staff scheduling and classroom coverage. Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive communication. Address staff concerns professionally and promptly. Help cultivate a positive, respectful workplace culture. Family Engagement & Enrollment Build strong relationships with current and prospective families. Conduct school tours for prospective families. Assist with enrollment and registration. Respond to parent inquiries promptly and professionally. Support parent conferences and school events. Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the enrollment process. Promote family involvement within the school community. Curriculum & Mariner Montessori Program Support Support teachers in implementing the Mariner Montessori Philosophy and Montessori classroom practices. Encourage developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Ensure classrooms remain organized, engaging, and fully prepared. Monitor lesson planning and classroom materials. Support enrichment activities, special events, and STEAM programming. Encourage classroom environments that foster independence, respect, concentration, and joyful learning. Administrative Responsibilities Assist with payroll preparation and staff time records. Maintain confidentiality of employee, student, and family information. Plan monthly breakfast, lunch, and snack menus in accordance with licensing requirements and nutritional guidelines. Order groceries, food, kitchen supplies, classroom materials, office supplies, and janitorial supplies while monitoring inventory and budgets. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared and served according to health, safety, and sanitation standards. Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely ordering of supplies. Assist with student enrollment records and registration paperwork. Prepare reports and maintain administrative files. Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director.
