12-months (260 days) Job Summary The Associate Principal is responsible for assisting the Principal in providing administrative and educational leadership for the school which assigned. This includes assisting with instructional leadership, staff supervision, and school operations. The Associate Principal supports curriculum development, student behavior management, and school safety, while also working to foster a positive school climate and promote student success. The Associate Principal reports directly to the Principal. Essential Job Functions Assists the principal, faculty, and staff in the planning, development and administration of the school to which assigned, as directed by the principal. Assists in the development of school policy. Promotes student achievement, attendance, and adjustment conducive to school success. Assumes major responsibility for such areas as instruction, student discipline and welfare, guidance and counseling services or administrative services as delegated by the principal. Assists in the orientation of new teachers. Coordinates and assists in student orientation and class scheduling as directed. Assists teachers with classroom activities. Observes teachers as needed for evaluation, holds observation conferences and writes reports as directed by the principal. Coordinates and assists with the substitute teacher program. Supervises use of buildings and grounds and school plant emergency procedures as directed. Assists in the coordination and supervision of student and schools activities as directed. Assists the administration in planning strategies for an effective educational program. Assists in the development and maintenance of school or student calendars, handbooks, schedules, bulletins, and publicity. Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support services personnel and students as needed. Assists in preparing and maintaining necessary records, budgets and reports for the school. Assists in developing and maintaining an effective school-community relations program for the school. Assists with the integration of technology in the curriculum. Performs other related duties as requested. Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to take independent initiative, while committing to collaboration Ability to employ tact, diplomacy, and sound judgement in dealing with sensitive issues and challenging situations Strong organizational skills Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Organizational and time management skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks. Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement. Experience in curriculum development and implementation. Knowledge of relevant educational policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Education :
Master's degree from an accredited college or educational institution Valid Postgraduate Professional license with Administration and Supervision Prek-12 endorsement.
Experience :
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a teacher
Certification and License :
Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with Administration and Supervisor on Pre-K endorsement Working Conditions and Physical Demands The duties are primarily performed in an office environment, with no unusual physical demands.
