Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide overall management, compliance, leadership, development, vision, supervision, and coordination of all interscholastic and athletic programs that support student wellness, character development, and lifelong engagement in healthy activities. This role is a non-coaching positions that fosters a safe, supportive environment where all students have the opportunity to participate, lead, and thrive, providing students with worthwhile learning experiences while insuring athletics serve as an extension of the school education mission, promoting student growth, sportsmanship, safety, and community pride.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned. Reports to, and works under the direction of the Athletic Director to supervise the overall athletic program. Abides by all school district interscholastic policies and procedures, state and federal laws. Assists with Supervision and evaluation of coaches. Assists with interviewing and evaluating coaching candidates for original appointments in cooperation with appropriate school and athletic personnel. Makes recommendations for the improvement of facilities to the Athletic Director for consideration and referral. Assists with development of athletic game schedules. Informs coaches of board policy and provides appropriate interpretation as necessary. Participates in conflict resolution within the ranks of the athletic department. Seeks ways to support and finance the athletic program. Assists with creation of financial reports at the end of each school year. Assists with making arrangements for interscholastic transportation, lodging and meals, as requested. Assists in evaluation of equipment requests from authorized coaches. Makes recommendations to Athletic Director. Attends home athletic contests and/or arranges for proper supervision as requested by Athletic Director or building principal. Acts as tournament manager for league and tournament playoff activities that are assigned to the school district as requested by Athletic Director. Sends reminders of upcoming events to schools and officials as assigned. Cancels or postpones contests, officials, and transportation because of weather or other hazardous conditions as requested by Athletic Director. Assists in the coordination and supervision of radio and television broadcasts, as well as the public address system operation at the various games. Maintains a permanent file of medical examinations, insurance forms, records, parent consent forms, emergency treatment forms etc. for each participating athlete. Assists in maintaining permanent records for each sport, such as wins and losses, outstanding records, letter winners, etc. Notifies Athletic Director of athletic suspensions and expulsions from teams. Provides constructive discipline to student-athletes as requested. Assists in determining scholastic eligibility of candidates for athletic teams for each eligibility period and certifying their eligibility on the proper school forms. Makes recommendations and forwards coaches' requests to attend coaching clinics at the school district's expense. Works with coaches and the Athletic Director to develop the annual athletic budget. Works with the principals, student councils, and coaches to schedule athletic assemblies and pep rallies. Assumes the responsibility for game management at home interscholastic contests and for the accounting and deposit of gate receipts as requested and/or assigned. Assists with the cleaning, repairing and storing of athletic equipment. Maintains an accurate inventory of all equipment. Works with school trainers (if applicable) to establish procedures for the management and safe operation of the training room. Assists with arranging for appropriate medical coverage/EMS services for various home contests. Assists with planning, organizing and supervising athletic awards programs with the approval of the principal. Assists with promotional publicity for interscholastic sports, including sports brochures, press, and radio releases. Assists Booster Club in the preparation and distribution of contest programs as requested. Assists with coordination of repair and maintenance activities for varsity athletic fields, track, baseball fields and gymnasiums with the Physical Plant Supervisor. Assists with managing athletic facilities and controls access by all user groups. Assists with hiring or making necessary arrangements to provide ushers, parking, security, and other services required by the athletic department. Assumes responsibility for the assignment of keys to athletic facilities and gymnasium as directed by Athletic Director. Represents the school at meetings as directed by Athletic Director. Attends booster club meetings as requested. Serves as a liaison between coaches and the Athletic Director. Assists in the review of the the athletic policy, staff handbook and relevant board policies with coaches annually. Evaluates and seeks ways of improving the interscholastic program. Presents recommendations for changes in athletic policies to the Athletic Director. Collaborates with town department of parks and recreation director with regards to facilities usage and development. Assists in updating and maintaining the Athletics website. Follows all district purchasing and procurement procedures May not coach unless with permission of the superintendent Performs other duties as the Athletic Director and/or building principal may direct.
Supervision Received:
Reports to, receives daily work assignments, and is evaluated by the Athletic Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Coaches as assigned.
Qualification Requirements :

Education :
Minimum of BA/BS preferred.
Experience :
3-5 years of Management experience.
Language Skills :
Must be able to read, write, and speak English with proficiency.
