Job Description

Windham Northeast Supervisory Union (WNESU) is seeking a visionary and dedicated Director of Student Services to lead our special education programs. This leadership role is vital in ensuring that all eligible students receive high-quality, specialized services in full compliance with Vermont Special Education Rules and IDEA regulations. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, you will oversee the strategic direction, compliance, and instructional excellence of our student support services.
Core Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
Direct and manage special education services to ensure they are systemic, continuous, and responsive to individual student needs.
Compliance & Policy:
Maintain strict adherence to state, federal, and local laws; manage the referral and eligibility process; and recommend data-driven policies to the board.
Financial Stewardship:
Prepare and administer special education budgets and grants, ensuring cost-effective programming and transparent communication with the Superintendent and School Boards.
Personnel Management:
Recruit, train, and evaluate a diverse team, including special education teachers, paraeducators, and related service providers.
Collaborative Advocacy:
Act as a liaison between the district, community agencies, and families to foster trust and encourage parent involvement.
