•PRINCIPALLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
The Kennewick School District places a high value on the leadership skills of our principals. Principals are responsible for developing a positive school culture and climate and ensuring high levels of student achievement. This requires the principal to develop and evaluate school programs and personnel and lead a strong team focused on the academic and social-emotional needs of students. The Kennewick School District has a comprehensive assessment system, providing data to determine student achievement levels and effectiveness of school programs. Principals are responsible for analyzing results and using this information to support a continuous cycle of improvement. The Kennewick School District uses the Danielson Framework to provide feedback and targeted professional growth for our teachers. Building principals are expected to fully implement the framework and our evaluation processes, ensuring rigorous instruction and learning for all students. The Teaching and Learning department partners with schools to implement the Washington State Learning Standards and provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. The Kennewick School District adopts curriculum to be used across the district. Each school collaborates with district staff to develop an implementation plan for the adopted curriculum. The Kennewick School District supports all buildings in the implementation of Professonal Learning Communities (PLCs) and Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to help all students find success. Principals are expected to collaborate with staff to develop and deploy effective interventions for students who need support with their academic and social-emotional skills. The middle school principals in the Kennewick School District are a strong, collaborative team. They share ideas, solve problems, and work closely together to ensure our middle schools are effective.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Successful school administrative experience and proven results in increasing student performance. 2. Washington State Secondary Principal credentials or proof of eligibility 3. Master's degree with an emphasis in educational administration 4. Successful teaching experiencePROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
1. Creates a collaborative environment with shared decision-making and processes to build consensus. 2. Knowledge and skills related to technology (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Learning Management Systems, etc.). 3. Demonstrates an ability to clearly communicate with students, staff and parents. 4. Is professionally committed and willing to devote the time and energy necessary to carry out the requirements of this position. 5. Builds and maintains positive school spirit and good sportsmanship while promoting school activities and athletics. 6. Knowledge of Special Education Law, the 504 process and inclusionary practices. 7. Knowledge of Career and Technical Education and post-secondary opportunities for students. 8. Promotes a compassionate environment where students,staff and families feel valued by and connected to the administrative team. 9. Advocates within the school district and community. 10. Understands how to create and oversee budgets, including the ASB budget. 11. Ability to monitor, evaluate and improve implementation of curriculum, instructional strategies and assessment practices. 12. A thorough understanding of middle school (6-8) academic and social-emotional standards. 13. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create positive, professional relationships. 14. The ability to collaboratively create, share and accomplish long and short-term goals. 15. A demonstrated ability to work well with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. 16. Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments. 17. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present to diverse audiences. 18. A demonstrated ability to provide energetic, positive, and creative leadership to implement school improvement plans. 19. Ability to effectively recruit, hire and retain staff. 20. The ability to use assessment data to evaluate school programs and student progress. 21. Provide positive, high profile, visible leadership for the school and community. 22. Enables all students and staff to make a connection to the school community. 23. The ability to schedule students based on their interests and needs. 24. Experience with implementation of MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support). 25. Ability to provide for the physical and emotional safety of students and staff. 26. Ability to create a positive school culture that promotes ongoing improvement of teaching and learning. 27. Assist classified, certificated and administrative staff with professional growth and development. 28.
