An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

TEACHING POSITION
Requires Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement (s) (for information visit: http://www.eed.state.ak.us/TeacherCertification ). Motivate Juneau's youth and be a role model in our community!
Position Summary :
Spanish Teacher responsible for full implementation and teaching of a Montessori multi-grade level adolescent classroom. Will work cooperatively with school staff to implement a cohesive program. Responsible for implementing program description, diversity plan, program evaluation in line with school district policy, procedure, and school board direction. Will support Montessori education for parents, teaching staff and administration.
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in education. Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) training and certification/diploma, 6-12 (grades 1-6). (Please provide a copy of your diploma with your online application and/or indicate the year received, where it was obtained under Colleges, Universities and Technical Schools Attended on the online application.) Valid Alaska teaching certificate with Spanish endorsement, or closely related field.
Preferred Requirements :
Master's degree in education preferred. Experience teaching at the middle school level. Experience teaching middle school Spanish. Experience teaching in an AMI Montessori environment and working with parents, parent boards, school boards, and administration. Experience in team or cooperative teaching.
Compensation :
Salary is dependent on experience and education. The Juneau School District offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package including medical, dental, vision and the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) plan.
