Location:

Description The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Primary Grade, Supervising Teacher at Kilby Laboratory School. This position is an elementary teacher in the primary grades, teaching all subjects to one class. In addition to working with elementary students, the teacher will also supervise student interns, accommodate clinical experiences in the classroom, conduct classroom research, serve on committees, and participate in other job-related activities. The successful candidate must have a clear understanding of the Alabama Reading Initiative; Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative; College and Career Ready Standards; The Alabama Literacy Act; The Alabama Numeracy Act; and be committed to implementing innovative practices. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Compensation is per the Alabama State Salary Matrix. Essential Job Duties Teach all subjects to one class in the primary grades, specifically 4th grade; Work with elementary students; Supervise student interns; Accommodate clinical experiences in the classroom; Conduct classroom research; Serve on committees, as requested; Participate in other job-related activities; Implement innovative practices; Support the campus community; Participate in school-wide professional development; Engage with the parent-teacher organization (PTO); Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in elementary or early childhood education is required; Education Specialist (EdS) degree is preferred; Three or more years of teaching experience in grades K-6 is required; Three or more years of teaching experience in grades P-3 is preferred; Trained in the Science of Reading is required; National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification is preferred; STEM instructional experience is preferred; Current, valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in elementary or early childhood education, or the ability to obtain such through reciprocity, is required. Electronic copies, if available, of unofficial transcripts may be attached under the attachment headings of Unofficial Transcript 1, Unofficial Transcript 2, etc. Electronic copies of unofficial/official transcripts may also be requested to be sent to employmentuna . Transcripts with a designation of "Issued to Student", or with the student name listed as the recipient will not be considered official. Official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate prior to the start date of the appointment, but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process.
