Elementary Teacher in Arkansas
Reports To:
Building Principal
Position Overview:
An Elementary Teacher in Arkansas is responsible for creating a nurturing learning environment where students can develop academic skills, social skills, and a love for learning. This position requires a deep commitment to fostering a positive classroom culture, implementing effective teaching strategies, and collaborating with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with Arkansas State Standards and district curriculum guidelines. Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students through engaging activities and projects.
Classroom Management:
Establish and maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning. Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote student self-discipline and positive behavior. Create and enforce classroom rules and procedures that ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Assess student progress through formal and informal assessment methods. Use assessment data to monitor student achievement and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and areas for improvement.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to plan and coordinate instructional activities and school events. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
Professional Development:
Stay informed about current educational research, trends, and best practices through professional development opportunities. Continuously reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness. Maintain Arkansas State Teacher Certification and fulfill any continuing education requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field Arkansas State Teacher Certification or eligibility to obtain certification. Previous teaching experience in an elementary school setting preferred. Strong knowledge of child development theories and instructional strategies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and move classroom materials and equipment as necessary. Stamina and patience to work effectively with young children in a dynamic classroom environment.
Work Environment:
Typical elementary school classroom setting with potential exposure to noise and interruptions. Regular use of educational technology and classroom equipment.
