St. Bernard Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, highly collaborative Fifth Grade teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Fifth grade is a critical transition year that prepares students for the academic expectations and increased independence of middle school. The ideal candidate will challenge students to think critically, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their learning while continuing to grow spiritually, academically, and socially. This position focuses on developing strong reading comprehension, analytical writing, mathematical reasoning, and study skills. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative instructional team committed to improving student achievement and supporting the mission of Catholic education. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (required) Valid California Teaching Credential (preferred) Experience teaching upper elementary students preferred Strong background in: Reading comprehension and literary analysis Writing instruction, including paragraph and essay development Mathematics with an emphasis on conceptual understanding and problem solving Differentiated instruction and student engagement Ability to: Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student growth Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and instructional practices Support Tier 1 instruction and implement interventions for struggling learners Foster student responsibility, organization, and independence Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to a collaborative, team-based instructional model Practicing Catholic preferred with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings, traditions, and values Ability to integrate Catholic identity into classroom instruction and culture Fingerprinting and Safe Environment training are required through the
