Full Job Description Job Overview:
Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley, located in Berkeley, California, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Elementary Teacher for the 26/27 academic year. The Elementary Teacher is a professional educator who is responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, rigorous instruction in their content areas that produce unmatched results and student understanding. Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley offers an engaging curriculum that promotes critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. We help our students to become leaders and lifelong joyful learners thereby strengthening their capacity to contribute positively to their communities. We support our students to develop meaningful relationships with peers and faculty based on honesty, respect, and responsibility. Job duties include (but are not limited to): Plans, organizes, and provides instruction in English. Instruction must be consistent and coordinated with the instructional program so that students meet and exceed learning targets and the requirements outlined in the curriculum. Develops and delivers lesson plans utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies addressing all aspects of communication that develop each student's ability to read, write, speak, and listen in content areas at levels that ensure learners meet or exceed learning targets. Administers academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student's progress in meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition. Maintains complete and accurate records of student's progress and evidence of growth and progress. Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility, enhance motivation, clearly communicate classroom routines, and incorporate challenging instructional strategies. Facilitates frequent and effective home-school communication by coordinating conferences, written communication, parent training and other meetings/events, etc. Attends staff meetings as well as serves on specific committees. Demonstrates cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration. The following knowledge, skills and abilities are required: Professional and welcoming demeanor. Strong teamwork orientation and collaborative ability. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong ability to work in a diverse environment, to connect with and supervise children Proficient in up-to-date pedagogical methods, classroom management approaches, differentiation, and techniques to support all learners in the classroom. Strong organizational skills required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree 3-5 years teaching experience Intermediate computer skills are required including word processing, data-entry, e-mail and Internet usage. Must be able to use smart boards and other technology in the classroom. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with children and adults. Work experience and exposure to diverse languages and cultures strongly preferred. Bilingual in French/English a plus. Compensation package : The appointment is a full-time, year-round, exempt teaching position with comprehensive health and dental plans for the employee and one dependent, a 403B plan employer contribution, and generous paid time off. The salary range is according to the experience and comprised between $64,365 and $94,711. This job description is not necessarily a comprehensive definition of the post.
