Job Description

Located in Foster City, Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a warm, welcoming, and vibrant TK-8th grade community school. We embody a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students, and building relationships with our families. Wornick Day School is seeking an elementary school teacher (experience in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade preferred) beginning the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will serve as a teacher in our elementary school and will be responsible for teaching ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science. We are seeking an experienced teacher who has knowledge of progressive educational environments.
The elementary school teacher will:
Provide an instructional program based on the needs of each student Implement our school adopted programs as the base curriculum for the grade Design engaging curriculum that supports the base curriculum and meets the school's guiding principles, including but not limited to Project Based Learning, design thinking, performance-based assessment Create and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and other teachers Differentiate effectively for diverse learners in the classroom Assess students learning frequently and effectively to ensure grade level standards are being met Create engaging lesson and unit plans under the supervision of the Assistant Head of School and other educational leaders at the school Document student learning and report home frequently on student assessments and progress Utilize multi-modal methods of instruction and learning in recognition of the diverse ways students learn Assist the administration in creating a respectful school environment in support of the behavioral and cultural policies of the school Provide appropriate and engaging individualized work for students in support of plans created with parents, tutors, aides and specialists Collaborate with grade level peers to support students, integrate learning across multiple subject areas and create a holistic grade level experience Recognize parents as critical partners in student learning and utilize support services within the school Use technology appropriately to advance learning goals Attend all staff meetings and fulfill other duties assigned by the Assistant Head of School (recess duties, club supervision, etc.) Receive and provide feedback in a professional manner with other school professionals The ideal candidate will: Have 5+ years of classroom experience as a lead classroom teacher Have a Bachelor's degree in an education-related field (advanced degree preferred) Have a California Teaching Credential (preferred) Be familiar with progressive educational approaches (Project Based Learning, student centered classroom, flipped classroom, inquiry-based lessons, etc.) Experience with Google Classroom, G Suite, and other LMS (a plus) Have experience in lesson planning and curriculum design Possess a love of learning and a passion for engaging students Have experience differentiation for diverse classroom learners Be a collaborative team member who will seek advice from peers and rely on the professional expertise of our administrators and support services Have a certificate in First aid/CPR (a plus) Experience with independent schools is a plus! Compensation and Benefits Salary for this position is determined by years of experience and credentials. Our range for elementary school teachers is between $85,000 and $110,000 Additional benefit stipend to assist with retirement contributions, dependent benefits or taken as taxable compensation Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision, life and AD&D, 403b retirement plan, and employee assistant program Significant tuition remission for employee children enrolled at
