Elementary General Education Teacher (2026-27 Academic Year)

The Contra Costa Jewish Day School is a K-8 independent school with approximately 170 students, accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. We are seeking Elementary Teacher candidates for the 2026-2027 school year in General Education, to include Language Arts, Humanities, Math, Science, Social Emotional Learning and Service Learning. We would like a teacher who wants to engage in school life and culture. The school offers a low student-to-teacher ratio, teaching assistants, a supportive environment, true dedication to professional growth, and an innovative approach to learning. In addition to curriculum planning and whole-group/small group instruction, our teachers are expected to differentiate the curriculum and accommodate students with specific learning needs/strengths. Collaboration with colleagues and productive connections with parents - including parent newsletters, emails, phone calls, and report cards with personalized narratives - are also important expectations. Teachers are responsible for some coverage of Recess/PE, and participation in Open House events, Professional Growth Days, and Parent-Teacher Conferences. We seek outstanding candidates of all backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree and/or credential is preferred A minimum of two years classroom teaching experience A passion for working with Lower School students and knowledge of this developmental stage A passion for working with students with a range of abilities, learning styles, and multiple intelligences. Experience teaching a differentiated, student-centered curriculum is preferred Deep knowledge of the instruction of reading, writing, grammar, spelling, mathematics, and social studies. Familiarity with the science of reading and best practices in teaching reading and writing. Proven success and enthusiasm for working constructively with parents Experience creating a nurturing, mutually respectful environment both in the classroom and with colleagues and administrators Effective classroom management, assessment, and organizational skills Experience and success collaborating with other teachers in a team setting and embracing a culture of ongoing professional growth Excellent written and oral communication skills

Compensation:

Annual Salary:

$55,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience and credentials 100% Health and Dental insurance for a full-time employee School contribution to
