CLASS DEFINITION
Positions in this class are characterized by their association with direct instruction process for students in the general education classroom. Positions within this class require the ability to work with children in the classroom, gym, or playground under the general supervision of the site or service administrator. Within this class, levels are differentiated by the credentials, degree of skills and expertise required to perform successfully within the assignment.POSITION DEFINITION
Under general supervision to provide instruction to students within credential authorized service; supervise the classroom and playground activities of students; plan as necessary with other staff members for the effective delivery of instruction for students; maintain records to demonstrate and evaluate students educational/social/emotional progress; and to do related work as required.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Provide daily instruction to students in authorized and assigned subject areas
- Provide for adequate planning for students' instructional programs both long and short term
- Provide an orderly, functional and attractive learning environment for students
- Work cooperatively with others in the school to provide for coordinated services for students
- Maintain necessary records to evaluate student learning and periodically report that progress to the parent/student/supervisor
- Maintain regular contact with the parents/guardians about student progress
- Maintain high level of skill and expertise in the subject matters assigned to teacher and in strategies by which to teach those subjects
