An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Requirements / Qualifications Please note that all applicants must meet the minimum requirements. Bachelor's Degree of higher Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Must meet Transitional Kindergarten qualifications:
- At least 24 units in early childhood education, or childhood development, or both.
- As determined by the LEA employing the teacher, professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool age children that is comparable to the 24 units of education described in bullet 1.
- A child development teacher permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

Not required for applicants with preliminary or clear credentials.)
