Grade Teacher Valor Christian Academy Mission Statement:
To provide each student with an uncompromising Christian education devoted to academic excellence in a family-friendly, safe, and nurturing environment.
Job functions and duties include:
Subjects to be taught include math, phonics & language arts, history, science, and Bible. All subjects are taught from a Biblical/Christian perspective. Follow the curriculum guide, use materials provided, and complete any required training. Lesson planning Assess students on a regular basis according to school assessment standards, best practices, and authentic assessment principles. Prepare electronic report cards and mid-term progress reports. Prepare for and conduct parent conferences in the fall. Meet with parents before/during/after school as needed/requested. Send out a weekly newsletter to parents. Communicate with parents concerning poor grades or behavior as appropriate. Plan and organize class events and field trips, communicating with your room parent(s). Adhere to school handbooks and maintain classroom expectations, discipline, and dress code. Adjusts lessons as needed to meet the needs of students with various learning needs and styles. Participate in required staff events throughout the year, including Teacher In-Service in August, quarterly PTF meeting attendance, Open House and Super Saturday (if applicable), Commissioning Service, parent-teacher conferences, middle school field trips, adjunct duties, etc. Qualities and qualifications, we desire in a candidate: A strong testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of faith in action. Uses acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speaks with clear articulation. Demonstrates the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, punctuality, and trustworthiness. Fully comfortable with technology and learning new systems and programs. Maintains a personal appearance that model's cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and follows school policy. An ability to be a positive role model. Have a thorough understanding of and be in agreement with the vision and mission of the school. Bachelor's degree, preferably in Elementary Education. A teaching credential and previous classroom experience in an academic setting is preferred. Excellent communication skills, including grammar and the ability to write well. Willingness to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff. Must pass background check.
