An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. This unique position teaches two fifth grade cohorts, with one class attending Mondays and Wednesdays and a second class attending Tuesdays and Thursdays. Responsibilities Teach two fifth grade cohorts across a Monday through Thursday schedule. Design and implement engaging lesson plans using curriculum provided by the school. Provide instruction in mathematics, language arts, science, history, Bible, and enrichment subjects while adapting lessons to meet student needs. Create a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, respect, and a love of learning. Effectively manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management strategies and consistent expectations. Foster strong relationships with students and families. Partner with parents as educational collaborators, maintaining clear and consistent communication regarding student progress, academic expectations, and classroom activities. Provide guidance and support to parents as they implement learning at home, recognizing the unique partnership inherent in a hybrid educational model. Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to families. Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership to ensure a consistent and supportive educational experience. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events. Maintain classroom organization, records, and instructional materials. Qualifications Preferred candidates will have:
Minimum bachelor's degree in any field; education or a related field is preferred. At least 2-3 years of lead classroom teaching experience. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with upper elementary students, preferably fifth grade. The ability to build strong partnerships with parents and effectively communicate student progress and expectations. An understanding of, or willingness to learn, classical education methods. The ability to work collaboratively with families, fellow educators, and school leadership. Must be willing and able to sign the organization's Statement of Faith as a condition of employment. Must successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting prior to employment.
