Micah 6:8 East Shoreline Catholic Academy (ESCA) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time First Grade Teacher to join our Catholic school community for the 2026-2027 school year. East Shoreline Catholic Academy Teacher Job Description 1.
Spiritual & Catholic Identity Faith Integration:
Incorporate Catholic values and Gospel teachings across all subject areas, not just during Religion class.
Liturgical Participation:
Lead daily classroom prayer, prepare students for school-wide liturgies, and accompany the class to Mass.
Role Modeling:
Exemplify Christian living in and out of the classroom, fostering a "Christ-centered" environment. 2.
Instructional Excellence Curriculum Implementation:
Teach core subjects (Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies) following the AOH Office of Catholic Schools (OCS) curriculum standards.
Differentiated Instruction:
Modify teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
Lesson Planning:
Develop engaging, structured lesson plans that utilize various instructional materials and educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, SMART boards). 3.
Classroom Management & Environment Positive Climate:
Create a safe, disciplined, and "loving" learning environment that promotes student responsibility and self-esteem.
Behavioral Standards:
Establish clear expectations for student conduct in alignment with Archdiocesan policies.
Organization:
Maintain a visually stimulating and organized classroom that maximizes instructional time. 4.
Assessment & Communication Progress Monitoring:
Conduct regular formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student achievement.
Parent Partnership:
Maintain open, professional communication with families through conferences, emails, and progress reports.
Collaboration:
Participate in faculty meetings, grade-level planning, and school-wide committees.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's in education or a related field is preferred. Current Connecticut Certification. Experience in Catholic Schools is desirable.
Other Required Qualifications:
A love for young people. A strong understanding of first graders' developmental stages. Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons. Practicing member of a faith community. Able to work with school technology (Google Classroom, SMART Boards). Effective communicator, both oral and written, who is a well-organized professional with great attention to details.
