Full Job Description Position Overview:
2nd Grade Teacher (Lower School) Robert F. Munroe Day School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to serve as a Lower School 2nd Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will foster foundational literacy and numeracy skills while nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence in a warm, structured, and developmentally responsive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach one self-contained section of 2nd Grade, including core subjects such as Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Design and implement engaging, hands-on lessons aligned with school expectations and state standards. Build strong foundational literacy skills through phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and writing instruction. Provide developmentally appropriate math instruction that strengthens number sense, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that supports social-emotional growth and respectful collaboration. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Regularly assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families. Maintain proactive and consistent communication with families to support a strong home-school partnership. Collaborate with Lower School colleagues and administrators to ensure curricular alignment and continuity. Participate in school-wide events, professional development, and committee work as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Demonstrated experience teaching at the primary/elementary level, preferably in early elementary grades. Strong knowledge of early literacy instruction, phonics-based reading development, and foundational math practices. Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. A commitment to embracing and advancing the mission and values of Robert F. Munroe Day School.
Preferred Qualifications:
Florida teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
