Full Job Description Position Overview:

Robert F. Munroe Day School seeks a dynamic and nurturing First Grade/Second Grade Teacher to join our Lower School team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of early childhood education, a passion for foundational literacy and numeracy instruction, and a commitment to fostering a classroom environment where young learners grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in core content areas including Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Create a structured and joyful classroom environment that supports student learning and positive behavior. Use assessment data (including MAP, IXL, and formative classroom assessments) to track student progress and guide instruction. Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and administration to support student success and implement intervention plans as needed. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents through conferences, weekly updates, and progress reports. Integrate technology and hands-on learning to enhance instruction and student engagement. Participate in professional development and contribute to a collaborative and mission-driven school culture. Model and uphold the school's values, expectations, and commitment to excellence.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Candidates with current Florida Teaching Certification or eligibility to obtain will be given preference. Minimum of 2 years classroom experience preferred, ideally in a lower elementary setting. Strong classroom management skills and familiarity with early literacy and math instructional strategies. Ability to foster relationships with students, families, and colleagues grounded in mutual respect and care. Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Robert F. Munroe Day School.
