An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Duties Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in literacy, math, science, social studies, and physical education. Utilize innovative learning technology and teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and understanding. Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom management skills. Assess student progress regularly through standardized testing, formative assessments, and informal observations to tailor instruction accordingly. Provide individualized support and tutoring to students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism or requiring early intervention services. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and specialists to support students' social-emotional well-being and academic growth. Incorporate literacy education resources to promote reading skills and foster a love for literature. Engage in curriculum development initiatives to ensure content remains current, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate. Experience Proven classroom experience working with children across early childhood and elementary age groups. Strong background in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management techniques. Experience working with individuals with autism or special education needs is highly desirable. Familiarity with teaching physical education, literacy education, math instruction, and standardized testing protocols. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Excellent communication skills for engaging students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
